A little history on Rayon textile goods:

The Dupont company invented Rayon fabrics. It was their response to the shortage of silk coming out of China in the 1930's. Since the early days of Hawaiian Shirts rayon has played a big roll. If you're lucky enough to get your hands on some authentic vintage Hawaiian shirts from the 30's 40's and 50's you'll notice that many were produced on rayon. Of course the rayon of the early days was quite different than what you can find today. Many of the Hawaiian Aloha Shirts produced during these years we're done on a heavy weight (in comparison to todays rayon) rayon fabric. Contemporary rayon is a delight. It has come a long way from the heavy nylon or polyester feeling rayons of the early days of Hawaiian Shirt Making. There are many different types of rayon fabrics used today to manufacture Hawaiian Shirts. We do our best to select only 1st quality textiles for all our Hawaiian Shirts. Some people still prefer cotton over rayon due to their belief that cotton will be cooler. Today that is not necessarily the case. Our Rayon Poplin is so light and breathable that it is considered just as comfortable on a hot humid day in Miami or Honolulu than cotton.
